VAS Data for Bishampton Road 2024

The Vehicle activated sign in Flyford Flavell was moved to its current location on Bishampton Road in January this year. The sign records the speed of traffic in both directions, although only the speed of incoming traffic is displayed.

The average traffic speed was 27.7mph for incoming vehicles and 30.2mph for outgoing traffic. The average number of vehicle journeys each day was 392 outgoing and 384 entering the village.

There were anything between 1 and 60 vehicles per hour, with the busiest times being between 7am and 8am ( mostly incoming traffic ) and between 3pm and 4pm ( mostly outgoing traffic ). The maximum speed recorded was 67 mph entering the village, and 77mph leaving the village!

Coming in to Flyford Flavell 85% of traffic was doing 33mph or less; going out of the village 85% were doing 36mph or less. 4% of vehicles are travelling at over 40mph when heading out of  the village in the 30mph zone, and 2% exceed 40mph driving in to the village. A small minority drive at dangerously excessive speeds in both directions
